Syed Abdi is a Senior Independent Consultant with over 45 years of unique expertise in Marine, Offshore Oil & Gas EPC, Operational Turnaround, Financial Resolution, Mergers & Acquisition, and general management of a group of shipyards in diverse geographical regions. He has held positions of Executive Director at Drydocks World – Dubai, Executive Director at Drydocks World – Singapore and Executive Director at Drydocks World – South East Asia, for three shipyards in Batam – Indonesia. Most recently he was Chief Strategy Officer for Swan Energy Limited for their newly acquired shipyard in Pipavav, Gujarat; this shipyard being the single largest private sector shipyard in India. In the past he was also the Managing Director at Palm Marine, Dubai (Composite Boat Building) and Divisional Director at Platinum Yachts, Dubai (Mega Yachts New build), Managing Director & CEO in ABG Shipyard Ltd, Mumbai,
Syed Abdi has also acted as a domain expert and worked alongside international Consultants (McKinsey, Deloitte, Alix Partners, Alvarez & Marsal, Ernst & Young), leading international Law Firms (Clyde & Co., Clifford Chance), and International Banks, for the Restructuring, Operational Turnaround, Investment Banking for a group of shipyards and various Marine and Offshore Oil & Gas projects.

Syed Abdi graduated from Directorate of Marine Engineering Training in 1978 and continued to progress and obtained First Class Certificate of Competency for promotion to the rank of Chief Engineer in Mercantile Marine, before career switch to the management of shipyards. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineers (India) and has been Member Confederation of Indian Industry - National Committee on Shipping & Shipbuilding, Member Engineering Export Promotional Council, West Region, Ministry of Commerce, India, and Member Lloyds Register Technical Committee Southeast Asia.
